Let's make a band

If you want to enter on the music world or want to form a band you should take certain steps to ensure you are successful. Below I have enlisted what I think is the right process in which to guide yourself in finding the correct chemistry for your band. I will outline the importance of band chemistry, song selection, regular practice and rehearsal and end with a gig. Everyone who knows how to play an instrument or can sing a tune thinks they can put together a band and make lots of money; Oh! Unfortunately that’s only a rumor. Here I explain why this doesn’t happen and how to position yourself in a way to actually make you and your band successful.

First things first, before you even place an ad on your local message board or on the internet that serving a free online gig it is very important that you actually spend tome formulating what kind of band you want to be and what type of music you are going play. This is very important because if you have a vision and get involved with people who do not share that vision, you are going to bump heads, disagree and never succeed. If you are looking to join a band without particular direction, this may work out for you, but if you have any sort of leadership qualities or personality, you will carry your band into fame.

Regarding the style of the band you want to put together, decide on if it is going to be a cover band or an all original band. Cover bands make money while original bands only make money when they are signed. Cover bands can attract a following and fans much faster than original bands but still original band is original band. You can’t take away the pride in paying your original compositions.

Make a research for your venues which caters to your style of music. If you are forming a country band, try to find the established country band in your area, attend of their performances and try to learn as you can. Then differentiate yourself from them while retaining the successful qualities. Find the things that they could do better and make sure your band includes those good qualities while retaining their successful practices.
